Running a social media giveaway
- Copy the list of entries (usernames from the comments, for example), one per line.
- Set the number of winners and, if needed, alternates.
- Run the draw, then copy the time-stamped result to announce it.
- Remember the rules: who can enter, closing date, prizes and how they are delivered.
Frequently asked questions
Is the draw truly random?
Yes. It uses your browser’s cryptographic generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same one used for encryption keys, with an unbiased draw: every entry has exactly the same chance of being picked. The animation is only visual; the result is drawn beforehand.
Can someone win twice?
No: each name or number can only come out once. If the same person appears several times in the list (several comments, for example), keep “One chance per person” ticked to merge duplicates, or untick it if every entry counts.
What are alternates for?
If a winner does not reply or does not meet the rules, you contact the first alternate, then the next. Announcing them with the draw avoids any suspicion of favouritism.
How can I prove the draw to my audience?
“Copy the result” produces a time-stamped text with the winners and alternates, ready to paste into your post. For extra transparency, record your screen during the draw.
