How to compare two PDFs
- Drop the old version on the left and the new one on the right.
- The comparison starts straight away: additions are underlined in green, deletions struck through in red.
- Jump from one difference to the next with the arrows.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly does the tool compare?
The text of the two documents, word by word: additions, deletions and changes. Formatting (fonts, colours, images, position on the page) is not compared.
The text moved to another page or line: is that a difference?
No. Line breaks and extra spaces are ignored: only a word that was added, removed or changed is flagged.
Why can’t my document be compared?
If it is a scan or a photo, the PDF contains no text, only an image. It would first need to go through character recognition (OCR) software.
Are my documents uploaded to the internet?
No. Both PDFs are read and compared in your browser: a confidential contract or quote never leaves your device.
